I agree with Debijs. Get a laptop and make sure it is a Dell. Dell has some great sales on laptops. This way no matter where you go you are connected. Get a Verizon or ATT "aircard" and stay connected wherever you go.

I’ve never used business software because I do affiliate marketing, and you can get a lot of your tools online. So It depends on what home business you’re planning on doing.

If you’re doing some freelance writing, then you might want to consider quicken for account spreadsheets and invoicing.

I use a MacBook Air, and it was just fine for a lot of the things I was doing online. However, a lot of third-party internet marketing software only work on a PC, like keyword tools. It’s kind of unfair in away.

But there are a lot of free tools you can use that would help you do the job.

So at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter.

I’ve been through exactly the same, Norton is terrible.
I currently use AVG but all I seem to get from anti-virus and protection is hassle so I’m not too bothered if I’m honest – but I have heard that StopZilla is brilliant and only costs about £9 or so for a year.
